You Staring at My Boobs!? No, I am Reading Stock Quotes!
E-MAIL THIS POSTNEW YORK — Sarah Jessica Parker filmed Sex And The City 2 on Friday 9/4/2009. She wore a dress featuring newspaper print, ”Christian Dior Daily” as title, and an image of Clark Gable. We didn’t really like the dress on SJP, but we thought it would make great vintage garment 10 years from now. We also thought that we have seen the dress on SJP once before.
We recalled a Sex And The City Season 3 Episode 47 “What Goes Around Comes Around,” which originally aired on October 8, 2000. SJP sported the dress while barging in on Natasha at a restaurant. Do you remember? Carrie broke up Mr. Big and Natasha’s marriage and felt bad about it.
HBO’s Sex And The City web site credits the dress as Newsprint Christian Dior dress. Indeed, John Galliano created this dress for the House of Dior, which became part of Christian Dior Fall 2000 RTW Collection.
Dior Fall 2000 RTW show featured several ‘newsprint’ looks that unofficially were dubbed ’homeless’ collection. Galliano’s inspiration for the collection came from French homeless as well as mentally ill in Diane Arbus photos.
With his 2000 ‘homeless’ collection, Galliano paid tribute to Dior who himself created a dress out of newsprint fabric in the 1960’s. Galliano later re-imagined the concept of newsprint dress as part of his own Fall 2008 Collection. It is known as Galliano Gazette Dress.
FYI: Sarah Jessica Parker accessorized with a silver chain bag and Christian Louboutin Lace Booties ($1.785 via Bergdorf Goodman).

if you are going to write an article commenting on fashion
one should know the difference between clark gable
and john galliano
the designer himself – whose image appears on the dress worn by sjp
