Gossip Girl: The Great Gatsby Era Revisited
NEW YORK– OK, this posting should have been posted a while ago, but it wasn’t due to some technical difficulties. We figured, it was better to run it now than never.
We saw all these Gossip Girl characters on September 3, 2009 looking like they just jumped off a time machine returning from the ‘roaring’ 1920s! It was like a party episode from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, coming to life before our eyes. Beautiful people idolizing the riches, splendid clothes, things and glamour — this is so gatsbian, and this is so Gossip Girl!
Eric Daman, a costumer extraordinaire behind Gossip Girl fashion, should rightfully be proud (and he is) of his own cultural phenomena, which is in its third season now.
Blake Lively wore a silk dress beaded with crystals, which she accessorized with Christian Louboutin Very Galaxy Mirrored Pumps [sold out, was $1.234 via mytheresa], beaded clutch and fishnet stockings.
Hilary Duff wore a black sequin mini dress, which she accessorized with a chunky pearl necklace, a black headband, sheer black gloves and H. Williams Gracyn Sandals from Fall 2009 Collection.
Taylor Momsen wore a pinstripe romper and accessorized with a pearl necklace, fedora hat and suede booties.
Ed Westwick was seen wearing a pinstripe double-breasted suit (Brooks Brothers, we guessed) with a red shirt, a silver tie and black and white shoes.
It was interesting to see how Chace Crawford teamed his double-breasted cropped patterned blazer with pinstripe pants.
Penn Badgley looked more like a magazine or newspaper reporter in Bugsby Malone suit, a purple shirt, purple tie, purple fedora hat and black shoes.
