Ginnifer Goodwin He’s Just Not That Into You Style

BALTIMORE, MD – People asked us about Gigi’s (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) plaid coat from He’s Just Not That Into You. Click the thumbnails below for larger preview.

It’s such a great fall coat. We especially liked pleats and cuffed sleeves. In 2007 this coat was known as the Throne Hunter Plaid coat by Diane von Furstenberg. Yes, 2007, this movie was filmed back then.

It would be really difficult to find similar plaid coat now since online retailers, boutiques and department stores are all selling spring apparel and bikini now. So, scouting consignment shops wouldn’t be such a bad idea…

By the way, actress Kirsten Dunst had (maybe still has) this coat too (check the photo below).

He’s Just Not That Into You Fashion

LOS ANGELES – It’s February 6th, and He’s Just Not That Into You opens today everywhere — just in time for Valentine’s day (February 14). It’s a romantic ’dramedy’ about a bunch of Baltimore gossip girls (and guys) trying to sort out their relationship issues and dramas.

In a nutshell it’s the story about Character A is going out with character B, character B is really into character A, but character A is really into character C. Character C is dating character D. Character D is married to character E. Character E works with character F, Ugh!

The movie features a glittering constellation of A-list Hollywood stars including Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly and Hollywood’s IT girl Ginnifer Goodwin… Oh, dear.

Large cast means lots of characters and lots of different styles. That’s why it was especially interesting to review this movie from fashion perspective. Shay Cunliffe, the movie’s costume designer, shared with the world a few secrets about He’s Just Not That Into You styling.

Bear in mind that this movie was filmed in 2007 and early 2008. There is simply no back order for most rady-to-wear apparel featured in the movie. If you liked certain items, you will have to get similar clothes. E-mail us and we will help you pick them.

Shay Cunliffe revealed that she first scouted department stores such as Barneys, Saks 5th Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdales, and then she hit Los Angeles boutiques. There were Ella Moss and Trina Turk for Ginnifer Goodwin’s character Gigi. Jennifer Aniston’s character, Beth, got to wear items from Theory, Paul Smith and Calypso. Meanwhile Drew Barrymore’s and Scarlett Johansson’s characters wore more budget items picked up from Urban Outfitters and thrift shops.

Jennifer Connelly’s character, Janine, had the most varied wardrobe. She wore Levi’s jeans, Steven Alan shirts, Paul Smith skirt and shirts, Tahari coat, Tory Burch sweater, Hermes watch and many more items.

GIGI (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) is really the catalyst for this story. She tries too hard and just about misses everything including being really stylish and cool. She’s a good girl and a hopeless romantic. Gigi just wants a man who says he’ll call to do so. Picture on the left shows Gigi in a SEA dress which Shay Cunliffe picked up at Fred Segal and turned if from asymmetrical into strapless. There’s a nice Julie Haus substitute dress available from Bloomingdale’s [sold out, was $267]. Cunliffe also made from scratch Gigi’s blue bolero.

At the office, Gigi is dressed in a blue dress by Ella Moss. Ella Moss most likely isn’t willing to take back order, but in case you liked the style there’s a nice $58 [sold out] substitute from Urban Outfitters. Gigi’s green J. Crew tote bag can also be substituted by a $127.75 Lucky Brand bag [sold out]. Oh, did we mention that Gigi really likes purple?

BETH (played by Jennifer Aniston) is more mature and confident. Did you notice that her style consisting of comfortable and classic items is very similar to Aniston’s own style?

Beth is wearing a Theory shirt and grey Paul Smith pants at work (see photo above). Also photos above show, Beth dressed in a Calypso belted cardigan accessorized with a Jennifer Meyer wishbone necklace. Urban Outfiters have a $16 necklace ‘replica’ [sold out]. Beth is also dressed in a custom made bridesmaid’s dress at her sister’s wedding. The last photo of the lot shows Jennifer Aniston wearing LoFli jeans with a plaid shirt. Interesting enough, LoFli is one of Jen’s favorite jean brands in real life

.

You should watch the movie to see where Neil’s (played by Ben Affleck) and Beth’s relationship is going.

JANINE (played by Jennifer Connelly) is a control freak, and her strict style reflects this. Her work outfits look business casual, yet very classy. Janine ensembles often consist of sweater/shirt combos. Pictures on the left show Janine dressed in a blue Badgley Mischka blouse, a grey belted sweater and grey Charles Nolan skirt. The second picture shows Janine wearing a Tory Burch sweater and blouse accessorized with Hermes watch. The third picture shows Janine dressed in a shirt and sweater by Theory and Hermes watch. Se more pictures of Janine below.

MARY (played by Drew Barrymore) is an ad sales representative at a local newspaper. Mary isn’t rich, so her outfits look more on a budget side. Below, Mary’s wearing a boyfriend jeans, a purple top by Splendid and accessorized with an Urban Outfitters necklace.

ANNA (played by Scarlett Johansson) is well aware of her awesome physique, and she’s not worried too much about her style. Anna likes to keep things casual when she is a yoga teacher and glams it up a notch with vintage styles when she is aspiring actress or a singer.

Anna has a lot of clothes from Urban Outfitters. Pictures above show Anna at a nail salon wearing an Urban Outfitters Lux cardigan, grey James Perse t-shirt and Levi’s 501 jeans. Photo on the right also shows Anna wearing Levi’s jeans.

Anna is a flea-market shopper where she finds all her vintage pieces. Shay Cunliffe picked up this Anna’s floral chiffon top at a thrift shop in Los Angeles. The next photo shows Anna in a chic trench coat which Cunliffe picked up at Barneys.
